In addition to weekly supervision from an IBHS masters level supervisor and monthly treatment team supervision meetings , all BHT are required to have a minimum of 20 hours of formal continuing education credits each year. If you have a high school diploma you can become a BHT once you take a 40 hour training course. Check with your supervisor for assistance in creating a continuing education curriculum individualized for you. All Master level staff is required to complete 16 hours a year of training. Remember that in order to receive credit you must complete the knowledge test at the end of the course and attach the certificate to your time sheet.
Mandated Reporter Training
All IBHS staff are considered Mandated Reporters in the State of Pennsylvania. This means that we are professional persons required by law to report evidence or suspicion that a child has been abused or neglected. The initial training we use is sponsored by University of Pittsburgh. Staff can access the training by clicking the link below and creating an account. Attach certificate of completion to your time sheet in order to be compensated for your training.
BC/ASD and BHT/ASD Specialized Training. Staff working with children on the Autism Spectrum are required to have a Master level license for the BC role and both the BC and BHT must have additional training in evidence based behavioral health techniques.
